About Self Sustaining Ecosystem.com
This site is one person’s love letter to biospherics, the study of self-sustaining ecosystems. In a larger sense, it covers many concepts of closed-system ecology and also dips into regular (open-system) ecology since the two are often closely related.
The applications of this field range from very excellent home decor to educational projects to bioregenerative life support systems in space and on other planets! A strong foundational knowledge of ecology can help you make environmentally-conscious decisions or a self-sustaining garden.
About the Author
Most of the content on this site was written by me, Patrick Grubbs. I have a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Sciences from the College of William and Mary and I’ve been working as a writer for 6 or so years by now. I have published aquatic ecology research in a peer-reviewed journal.
This site started as a place for me to chronicle my journey into learning more about self sustaining ecosystems, but it grew to be a lot more. Now it’s my full time job writing for this site, as well as my succulent blog and smartphone photography blog Please excuse my inclusion of advertisements and affiliate links, it’s how I make a living 🙂
If you have any question, please feel free to reach out to me on the contact page. I love discussing the finer points of jars and snails, or the effect of zero gravity on plant growth – whatever really.
